The first time I sang in public was on the front steps of my church when I was in second grade. That began my life-long love of music and ministry. Since then, the Lord has guided me on this path of faith and has continued to expand and enlarge my opportunities to share my testimony through music. I have performed all over the country including Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Virginia, Maryland, California, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.
I was raised as a preacher's kid in Virginia. I still have family all over the country in church work. My father, Elder George Gainer, was a pastor with the Potomac Conference and worked in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, for many years. I graduated from Shenandoah Valley Academy in the beautiful town of New Market, Virginia . . . a place I still consider home.
Currently, I am a home-schooling mom living in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area with my husband, Shawn, and our four children: Zac, Jake, Rachel, and Caleb, and our two dogs.
I wrote my first song when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Then my mom and mother-in-law both died of cancer within a year, and I recently lost my father after he had been living with us. Those experiences have totally changed my life, and brought about the spiritual growth and music that is on the CD. Since I have been in full time ministry, I have had so many people come up to me and need to talk about their grief. About how far away from God they feel because they are in such a deep pit of grieving and pain. I know God wants me to use what words He has given me, in song and testimony, to help others. This is a burden of mine, because I have been there. My desire is to lift them up!! That is the focus of my ministry. The songs show where I have been and where God has taken me. I have a great desire to help others who are hurting by pointing them to God for all their needs. Now, more than ever, I pray that my music will bring people hope.
