Hans was born in Breckerfelt, West Germany in 1953 to Werner and Gerda Woelk. He's been a truck driver most of his adult life except from 19932001 when he worked in Alaska as an aircraft mechanic and state accountant.

Hans's talent for whistling was discovered on a Sabbath afternoon at a friend's home in Juneau, Alaska. In the spring of 2001 he cut his first CD. Hans loves all things country, the music and the lifestyle. "I love the country and cowboy way of living, dressing, and singing/whistling because it's a simple way of life." Hans enjoys that simple way of life with his wife and four children, three horses, three dogs, and three cats.
