James L. Marcum earned his degree in medicine from the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Kentucky at Lexington.
Dr. Marcum was honored by the Medical Center of Delaware Research Competition. He was named Outstanding Fellow Teacher by the Department of Internal Medicine at University of Kentucky at Lexington.
Dr. Marcum previously practiced clinical medicine in Columbia, Tennessee, and in the Cincinnati area. He has published articles on Alzheimer’s disease, blunt trauma to the chest wall, and polymyositis. He is the author of Heartwise, a book dedicated to patient education, and Heartbeat, a book focusing on the Biblical approach to understanding and treating heart disease. Dr. Marcum is the director of, and speaker for, HeartWise Ministries.
Dr. Marcum is board certified in cardiology and is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology.
