James R. Nix, director since 2000 of the Ellen G. White Estate located at the General Conference in Silver Spring, Maryland, has worked for more than 40 years for the White Estate. During that time, he has authored several books and numerous articles dealing with Ellen White and Adventist history. In 1981 he helped establish, and currently chairs, the board of Adventist Heritage Ministry that operates four historic Adventist sites. Known for being a story teller, Elder Nix also has a passion for keeping alive our early Adventist hymns. In 2015, a long-time dream of his was fulfilled with the opening of the Ellen G. White Visitor Center at the White Estate’s main office. Elder Nix is married to Mindi, a middle school teacher at Spencerville Adventist Academy. He has one daughter, Shannon, and one grandson, Tiernan.
