Larry Paxton

A resident of Nashville since 1979, Larry Paxton is one of Music City's first call session bassists. In addition to his work on recordings by Alabama, George Jones, George Strait, Kris Kristofferson, Alan Jackson, Willy Nelson, Dolly Parton, and many others, Larry has also worked as staff bassist on TNN's Music City Tonight, and Prime Time Country television shows. Other T.V. appearances include Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, CMA awards, and Grand Ol' Opry Live. Equally comfortable on electric bass, acoustic bass, guitar, and tuba, Larry is also in demand as a session leader, working with artists like Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, and John-Michael Montgomery.

Larry, along with wife Kristin Wilkinson and Marty Stuart, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for composing the score to the film "All the Pretty Horses." Other film credits include "Prancer Returns," and "Waking Up in Reno." In addition to his composing duties, Larry was also involved in arranging and recording the soundtracks, performing on bass, guitar, and tuba. Recently Larry teamed up with wife Kristin to arrange the strings on projects with Kenny Chesney and T.V. legend Andy Griffith.

Larry and Kristin have also co-produced two instrumental albums, "Western Swing" on the Green Hill label, and "For Every Kindred Tongue and Nation" on the 3ABN Music label. The latter is the first in a series of Classic Orchestral Music, and they are currently beginning work on the next CD in the series.
