Lisa Marie Buster
Grandma, what does it mean to be born again?
The question came from eight-year-old Lisa Marie, who was searching for a little peace, hope, comfort, and security after a rough childhood of abandonment, abuse, and the death of her mother.
"My grandma explained to me that being born again meant having a personal relationship with Jesus, having a Friend who will never leave you nor forsake you. It meant that Jesus would make me new from the inside out and that someday He would come to get me and take me to a world where no one would ever be sad, no one would ever be abused or die."
"That was what I was looking for. So that night, I asked Jesus to come into my heart and to be my best friend. And though I had been raised in an Adventist home since birth, something was different. I was new, and I had hope for the first time. This is why I do what I do. I want to share this precious joy, this wonderful Savior-Friend with a world in need."
Lisa learned to play the guitar and began writing songs when she was ten years old. At seventeen she joined her first Christian band, called Destiny, and began touring full time about four years later.
In 1992 Lisa married Michael Buster, who had been traveling with another Christian band as sound technician and road manager. Since their marriage, the Busters have continued in ministry, traveling throughout the United States and parts of South America.
"My passion is JESUS! His love! His return! The beauty of who He is! I am PASSIONATE about Him and sharing Him with others! He's the reason I sing."
Lisa's other passions include "all things pasta," Florence, Italy, and her dog, Buddy. She and her husband currently reside in Washington when they aren't touring, which is eight to nine months out of the year.
