Paul Bunday was educated at Epsom College (where he was captain of the cricket XI) and Wadham College, Oxford. Following his National Service in Fighter Control, he trained for the ministry at the London College of Divinity under Dr. Donald Coggan (who was later Archbishop of Canterbury).

Following his ordination, Paul Bunday was curate at Woking, then spent six years as Chaplain of Reed's School, Cobham. During the final years of his ministry he developed a particular interest in biblical meditation. His book on the subject, Spirit Borne, was published by Bible Reading Fellowship in 1996.

Canon Bunday is now retired and lives with his wife Cynthia near Salisbury. They have three grown children. He continues to offer a ministry in prayer and Bible meditation. His interests include walking and cricket.
