Dr. Litke has taught various ancient languages at Walla Walla University since 1947. Even though he is now officially retired, he still continues to teach on a part-time basis. Through the years, his expertise included the Greek and Hebrew languages, and today he teaches mostly Arabic.

Along with his teaching career, Dr. Litke also took out time to take classwork in a number of ancient languages at the Univ. of California, Univ. of Michigan, Univ. of Chicago, and Yale Univ., where he received his Ph.D.
