The book is one of the best read in the current society. Reading the book was more than visiting a counselor. Belonging helps you to reflect on how what you have read impacts your life. Interestingly, the content is so vast and profound that it was almost impossible for me to read more than 1 chapter at a go.
Reading the book made me realize that we all have faced rejection and abuse as children whether from family members or from bullies in schools.
I would recommend Belonging to different groups. First to parents or aspiring parents. It will help you to raise healthy children and have prior knowledge of how a child's mind work.
The book is good for couples. Reading the book helps you understand your partner's behaviours. People act differently depending on their childhood experiences. For example, people brought up in homes where they were criticized all the time tend to criticize everyone. Those who faced rejection from their primary caregiver tend to either "keep it to themselves" or look for validation from everyone.
Lastly, I would recommend the book to every individual. The book helps you to process your pain and live with others peacefully. There are some practicals in the book that helps you to identify your pain and deal with it.
