Description / Exploring the Letters of John and Jude

The letters of John and Jude are a wake-up call. False teachers had infiltrated the church and introduced secular reasoning in place of apostolic teachings. John and Jude wrote to their congregations not only to warn the faithful against the impostors but to emphasize true spirituality in the face of error and apostasy.

It's no surprise, then, that these four letters are of the utmost relevance to Christians today. John's first and second letters deal with issues central to genuine Christian faith and life, while the third provides a snapshot of the dynamics of at least one congregation in the A.D. 90s. Jude confronts many of the same issues in his letter, including the immorality that results from a denial of Christ.

Great devotional and commentary
Review by
We read a section of this book every morning. It makes for great reflection and understanding of God's Word. My wife and I have already read other books in this series: Mark, John and Jude, Romans, Galatians and Ephesians. They are all excellent books. I wish they would be translated into Spanish. Thank you George Knight for your inspiring books.

Excellent commentary
Review by
This devotional commentary, like all of George R. Knight's devotional commentaries, is an exceptionally helpful little book. His method of providing the historical and cultural context in which the letters were written, the way he breaks down each verse, often providing the various definitions of key words from the original language and why a particular word choice was made brings much clarity and a deeper understanding of the text. I especially appreciate the inclusion of commentary from multiple other scholars. Dr. Knight's writing is completely accessible to a layperson like myself who has not studied theology - anyone with basic reading and comprehension skills will be able to glean deep spiritual and practical insights. My only complaint is not with the book -it is with the ABC for not making the promised free study guide available for download on their website. They are available for a couple of the other books in this series and when available are an excellent additional resource.
