When Danny stumbled across a starving fawn in the forest, he insisted that the family take it home to care for it. Ruggy, as the baby deer was named, quickly got stronger and began to tear around the barnyard with the dogs. Whether he was following Danny to school, running from coyotes, or teasing the milk cows, Ruggy always slept on the back porch at night. As the years went by, Danny’s pet grew bigger and soon he was spending more and more time in the woods with his deer friends.

Great Mountain Story Of a Ranch Family
Review by
This is a great story 100+++ for any age. A family lives way up in Northern California's Cascade mountains on a ranch. They are at .at least 4 generations from the pioneers. They pick and grow about all of their food. They have many encounters with wild animals, some not dangerous, some very dangerous. They have an elderly Indian Chief Charlie that comes to visit. He tells some great stories plus teaches the boys some great outdoors skills. Mom and Dad and 3 kids work on the ranch.Because of the vast snow school is in the summer and fall. Their dad's brother is a MD in town. He grew up on the ranch too. This family works hard but has fun too. I think most of us have lost our off the grid food and do for our self skills.
