Rachel Lemons explores 13 biblical stories in a quest to discover the various facets of an authentic relationship with God. True, it may seem easier to have a relationship with someone you can actually see and touch. But what if God values relationship more than religion?

Description / Fish Food

Jonah wasn’t thrilled about his new job assignment. So he turned tail and sailed off in the opposite direction—a choice that got him tossed overboard into a raging sea and then swallowed by a giant, rather hungry fish that God sent to devour him. Moral of the story? Jonah’s traumatic experience as a tasty morsel of fish food was what God used to save his life . . . and, ultimately, the lives of the Ninevites.

Ah, yes. So often we too view the big, hairy situations in life as obstacles that get in our way. Yet as Jonah learned, God can use any circumstance as a tool to strengthen character and to accomplish great things. And just as God called Jonah and so many others in the Bible, He is calling us to do something specific for Him.

Before we can do anything for God, though, we need to know Him, to have a real, living connection with Him. Rachel Lemons explores 13 biblical stories in a quest to discover the various facets of an authentic relationship with God. True, it may seem easier to have a relationship with someone you can actually see and touch. But what if God values relationship more than religion?

Fish Food as a young adult devotional provides dynamic insight into ways we can connect with God in new and fresh ways every day!! The author takes a candid look at the lives of Biblical characters such as Jonah, Daniel, Samuel, and others to seal the point home that God values an experience with us above all else!! Fish Food contains practical suggestions for building a relationship with God, great personal testimonies and even humorous anecdotes from the author, but most importantly it inspires one to take charge of their destiny and seek God to lead them to a new experience with Him at any stage in life. Whether you are a non-Christian, new believer, or atheist this book has something of value for you to apply to your life today. At the end of the day, we all want to sup and learn at the feet of Jesus and Ms.Lemons with Fish Food sets up the dinner table for one to do just that!! Don't delay pick up your copy today!!

Hooked!
Review by
Fish Food is an honest look at what it means to not be a Christian, but what it means to have a relationship with God. It doesn't come across as "preachy" or "judgmental". It provides enough insight into the authors life to make you reflect on your own. Reading it in some ways is like sitting next to a close friend, having a conversation about how to have a better relationship with God. She shows that in order to let someone into your life you have to be vulnerable; this we all know, but the same goes for our relationship with God.

As Rachel states she had questions and like many of us, if we only create, foster and sustain that relationship with God will we understand the answers/experiences he has been showing us all along. If you have questions, you might not exactly find all the answers, but this book definitely points you in the right direction to find them.

I've already started to pass the book around to others and they've expressed a desire to pick it up as well... most likely because they won't put down my copy.

The Right Book at the Right Time
Review by
This book was perfect for people like me, struggling to find footing in a spiritual walk. I started reading this book when my faith in anything was at its lowest. I would read Fish Food as my morning or nightly devotion and I found that the more I read, the easier it became to connect the dots in my spiritual campaign. This book is for anyone that's not sure how to start a relationship with God or even how to feel about him in general. If you're that person that's on the fence about their relationship with God, but you know you want one, start with this book. By the time you're finished reading the book, you will have the foundation that in time will only get stronger. Great book! I highly recommend it!
