Description / I Was A Catholic Priest

’Therefore since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.’

Romans 5:1.

Ernest Pierre Delaporte realized that life eternal, glory eternal, the heritage eternal--everything was granted free by Jesus. And what the apostle said became true for Ernest too: ’From that moment nothing has ever disturbed my peace again.’

I Was a Catholic Priest, is the true odyssey of one man seeking peace and not stopping until he has found it. His spiritual search took him from the priesthood in France to serving Jesus Christ as a missionary principal and chaplain at Songa Adventist Seminary in Zaire, Africa.

I was a Catholic Priest
Review by
This is a most interesting book. As a former Roman Catholic I could relate to Father Delaporte's issues. He had concerns about Birth Control, the differences between Catholic doctrine such as divorce and the Bible. Catholic doctrine says that you can not remarry in the church or take communion if you are divorced. The Bible says that if you are divorced because of your souse's adultery you can. Father Delaporte thought that Vatican 2 would drop the non Biblical Catholic doctrine and go by the scriptures. His descriptions of his life situations are excellent. He goes as missionary to China as Mao is taking over China and forced to leave. He also is overworked and sent to impoverished areas of France to work and the archbishop only gives him a dollar a day to live on. After many years as a Catholic priest reluctantly Father Delaporte left his family and the Catholic church became and joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church In America. In painstaking detail he describes the difficulty of leaving his life up to that point behind. This is one of the best books that I have read, because he describes each stage of his life in great detail. You are not sure what will happen next.
