This intriguing and well written book offers a unique perspective on Adventist doctrine and faith. I found the book to be honest, heartfelt, and uplifting. I have recommended the book and would feel comfortable sharing with Adventists and non-Adventist alike.

The best most eloquent explanation of Adventism around...

With a title like this, you know going in it's going to be about Adventism and that the author will tried to persuade you that Adventism is worth recommending. The book not only recommends Adventism, it gives a picture of a God that is so loving, so gracious, that all Christians will find the description compelling. What's interesting is that McLarty manages to explain the doctrines of the Adventist church (Sabbath, state of the dead, end times eschatology, diet, etc.) through a lens of "God is love." Written by McLarty with eloquence and concise prose, the fundamental beliefs of the Adventist church transform into a testimony of God's love and not about legalism, as is often the picture that is painted of Adventists.

If you're wondering about Adventists and what they believe, read this. If you are an Adventist and want to share your faith with a non-Adventist, give them this book. I gave it to a young person who had left the church because she was disillusioned about the hypocrisy and the legalism she found but after reading this, she was moved enough to give Adventism another look. Only this book could have worked because this girl was an English major, a wonderful writer herself, and a critical thinker. This well written and moving book, combined with a lot of loving Adventists who entered her life around that time, caused her to not only return to the church, but she's an Adventist Frontier Missions missionary this year. I totally credit McLarty and this inspired book for giving this young lady the correct image of God.
