This is a gripping story that deals with the topic of the state of the dead The characters are made up, but the events are real and are happening on a daily basis even in the Christian community. This book is a great introduction to the topic of spiritualism and ultimately addresses issues that are becoming more and more popular.

Description / The Choice

Life in Gentry County looks ideal on the surface . . . but as shocking secrets are exposed, a battle line is drawn, and everyone is forced to choose a side.

Brenda’s husband had been dead four years. Then he came home again. Just like that. He unlocked the door with his keys, hung his coat in the closet, and began to visit her every night.

Young and fearless, nightclub singer Cindy lives alone. But someone keeps lighting the candle on her dining room table. And the footsteps in the living room are not the searching steps of a burglar, but the steps of someone who has made himself at home.

As encounters with the spiritual world increase, people in Gentry County start searching for the truth: Are the dead really dead?  Or are they alive in another form? Everyone in the community—from the pastors and church members to the coven of witches—must examine what they believe. One by one, each person is swept into the middle of a spiritual battle more intense than they ever imagined.

Conveys Biblical but non-denominational message

I could hardly put this down. I loaned it to someone who wasn't sure about what the Bible says about this subject, didin't get it back and bought another. This is so POWERFUL in informing Christians---congregations and pastors alike, because it isn't related to a specific religious organization, no stigma attached. I especially appreciated the portrayal of a pastor who realizes that his theology studies where often more from tradition rather than the Bible. I believe personally that this subject will be one of (and is now as well) the devils main thrusts in winning souls away from Christ. Selling this in non SDA bookstores is so very important to reach the people who need it. Thank you Dan and please more & more like this.
