Description / The War Within

WW II carved its way through Europe bringing devastation to millions.  This is the true story of 14-year-old Waldemar Leonardt who lost four brothers in the war along with his faith in a loving God—and it's the story of his lifelong struggle to find forgiveness and peace from the war that raged within.

In 1956, he sailed into New York Harbor, a refugee with a suitcase in each hand, eighty dollars in his wallet and a heart full of hope. He thought he had left the trauma of war behind, but he had brought with him a heart frozen by anger and an unforgiving spirit.

What would it take for Waldemar to find the Love for which he hungered? Would he never be able to forgive those responsible for the death of his brothers? Would he ever find peace from the war that raged within?

God bless Brother Leonhardt for sharing his story

Please watch the 5 Minute video on this web site by Brother Leonhardt. Do You know someone that you can not forgive? This book is for you. Or if you love history and World War 2 as I do, this book is for you. This is a perspective of World War 2 I had not seen from a young German Boy's perspective. Even in 1999, visiting Britain he hates every British person he sees. They all look at him with steely eyes and are murderers, just like they cold bloodily killed his 4 brothers in WW2. He hates the sight of any British person. He was not old enough to go to war being the youngest. After the War he left Germany and went to America and became an American citizen. But when he sees the British in Britain he remembers how they killed his family and how cruel the British soldiers were to the German people. This is a new side of war for me. No, he is not crazy just terribly hurt and he needs to feel safe enough with God's help to forgive them. I can see that this would be very hard because he did not feel safe enough to forgive them after the war then all the hatred and resentment was bottled up until he went to Britain many years later. BE honest, If someone cold bloodily killed four of your siblings that you loved and looked up to, how easily would you forgive.
