I tend to agree with the review seeking more ethnic illustrations. But, my, aren't they nice. Jesus words in gold are nice as well, very unassuming & blend right in. Lovely Bible. Thank you. I treasure mine.

Bible Illustration Should Be More Accurate

I would love to have a large version and print of this Bible as well as better illustrations of the women depicted throughout the Bible. As a woman of minority in the 21st century; I expected more diversity shown in a world wide congregation such as ours. Perhaps, the company could update illustration in a newer version. As well as large print for older women.

This Bible looks wonderful. I will be purchasing one for my wife. Congratulations to the Women's ministries department. I do wish, however, that after the meticulous work that went into the development of the Bible, that the illustrations had attempted more accurate realism. I believe in 2014 that we are a global enough community to accept the fact that the Bible characters were mostly Middle Eastern Semites and can be depicted that way! While those who read the Bible today do come from every ethnic background, the Bible is clearly set in the Middle East. I love the authenticity of depicting the Bible characters as Middle Easterners with dark hair, shades of olive colored skin, and facial features unique to that region of the world. It is jarring to view illustrations that depict the characters as European, Interior African, Asian, Hispanic, etc. Let's be as "real" in our depictions as we attempt to be in our scholarship.
