Description / Surviving Grief

Author Sandy Zaugg knows something about hardships and trials.  When her children were 8 and 13, she lost her husband to colon cancer.  Nine years later, her son died as a result of an automobile accident.  This book is the honest rendition of one woman’s struggle through devastating grief and her ultimate realization that reaching out to others is often the best healer.
No two experiences are the same.  Adults grieve differently than children.  Women grieve differently than men.  Death resulting from a long, drawn-out illness differs from sudden unexpected loss.  Loss by suicide isn’t the same as loss through an act of violence.  Zaugg doesn’t pretend to have the answers for everyone.  What she does offer are some very candid, practical suggestions (no matter what your loss or circumstance) for facing the future – moment by moment, day by day, year by year.

A Personal Remembrance of Grieving
Review by
The book is almost 5 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. It is 95 pages. It is divided into 23 short sections.
I was looking for something that I could use with people on a day by day basis as the person went through the grieving process. When a friend loses a spouse, I have been making a commitment to call them morning and evening to have worship and pray with them. This does not seem to meet my needs. However, it does seem to be something a grieving person could read on their own to guide them through the rough times. Topics covered include doing the hard stuff, facing loneliness, accepting help, making adjustments and other steps. It does not cover the stages of grief. It would probably be a good gift to a grieving person..

The Importance of Grieving
Review by
Until the Lord comes many dear friends and relatives will be laid to rest and many suffer the pain and anguish and you as a friend can share this thoughtful gift. Be sure and read it and keep a copy for your personal library as well as enough to have on hand to share and comfort. It's better than a sympathy card alone as it begins the healing process. Pick up several copies to have on hand to share instantly as needed. I have shared this book many times and continue to do so and each one who has received it has responded in sincere appreciation.
